Stefan Münzer plays his own exceptional and individual piano music. The music offers an inner life of high emotional intensity. The core character of a composition and improvisational freedom are balanced.

Stefan Münzer studied playing jazz, classical and contemporary piano music in Hamburg (Germany), Vienna (Austria), and Leipzig (Germany). However, he did not obtain an academic degree from a music conservatory.

Stefan always follows his intuition and takes his time. He works like a self-taught composer and finds the core character of a composition, the form of it and the potentials of improvisation in it for each piece of his piano music individually, through listening and playing. On the one hand, the compositions are clearly distinctive. On the other hand, they remain in a constant process of transformation.

Stefan Münzer won the first prize of the Improvisation Competition staged by the music conservatory Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy in Leipzig, Germany (2002). The solo piano album INDIVIDUAL DIFFERENCE was released in 2015. Stefan Münzer play his music as solo piano, in a duo (with cello) and in a jazz trio (with double bass and drums).

Stefan Münzer studied psychology in Frankfurt a.M., (Germany), Saarbrücken (Germany), and Leipzig (Germany, PhD) and is a professor of psychology at the School of Social Sciences of the University of Mannheim (Germany).
